Hey Guys,

Address correction. I made a silly mistake the last time I posted the information (the class is near El Camino, NOT at El Camino). Thanks.

If any of you want to have fun, work on some of your Latin Dance moves and get in shape at the same time, please join us for a Zumba class taught by our club member, Carol.

The class actually starts at 6:30 p.m., but, please arrive early to register. Class fee is $8 per person.

If you are interested, but, cannot attend this particular class or Meetup session, no worries... just email Carol and participate in another session. We'll grab coffee or dinner afterwards.

Hey Guys,

Sorry but I have to change the date of the Meetup and move it up a week. I hope this is okay for everyone? Phebe will be visiting her family before her surgery, and I'm being deported on 10/23. :(

So, come by and wish Phebe a full and speedy recovery, and if anyone knows a trick or two to keep me in the Country, let me know! :)

Gruss Gott, mein Freunde! Hoffe sie sind alle gut! Ja, es ist zeit fur das OKTOBERFEST!!!

That's right, it's time for Oktoberfest guys! Bretzen, bratwurst (or weiswurst), bier and spargel!!!

Oktoberfest is actually a Bavarian/German holiday. But, because so many German and Austrian immigrants have contributed to the culture and history of America, this holiday was naturally brought to the United States... and what a holiday it is!!!

Since we all can't travel to the Theresienwiese in Munchen, Alphine Village in Torrance will have to do. So, bring you dancing shoes, get ready to learn the "Chicken Dance", sing some German songs and have a merry ole' time while learning a little bit about German-American culture! And yes, we can practice English as well (I may even teach you guys a few "bad words" in German).

PLEASE NOTE - This is a 21 and Over event only. Admission is $8 a person and does not include the price of food or beverages (so bring some extra cash for that).

Drinking is purely OPTIONAL. You DO NOT have to drink, but, if you do drink, please drink responsibly... and remember, the German beers are much stronger (and tastier) than American beers!

Hey, Everyone! For the month of April, we've decided to have a field trip to the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

For those who want to carpool, we are planning to meet at the Alberstons on Artesia and Western in Gardena at 10 a.m. For those who are opting to drive by themselves and meet us up there, we'll see you at the front entrance to the Getty around 11:15 a.m. or so. (Please note, this is for the Getty Center at 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, California 90049 - not the Getty Villa in Malibu).

Admission is free, and there is a parking fee of $10 per car (hence we're promoting car pooling). We'll probably have lunch at the center around 1 or 1:30 p.m. and then head back around 3 p.m. or so. Bring your camera and hope to see you there.

This is Valentine's Day and what better way to show your love for others then to volunteer. We will be sorting food for this organization to distribute to people who are hungry and have a low income.
Please RSVP as soon as possible and also let me know if you need transportation and I will try to arrange for you to ride with other members. This is early in the morning but it will be so rewarding and fun. My son , his wife and I are all going.
Anyone who wants to eat lunch afterwards... we can organize something like that too. A PERFECT opportunity to practice your English and there will be many native speakers to help you.
PLEASE ONLY SAY YES IF YOU ARE COMING!
It is very American to volunteer so this is a good way to learn more about American culture.

It's a brand new year! Let's get together and practice our English conversation. Please RSVP yes only if you are sure you can make it. I make reservations for the people who RSVP yes. It is embarassing when I reserve 20 seats and only 10 show up. Lets have fun! If you are a native English speaker, try to bring a friend who is a nonnative English speaker. We will also be planning our February meetup. Anybody have a home or a rec room they would be willing to volunteer for a potluck?

A couple of us are planning to have dinner after our walking tour of Sleepy Hollow. We were thinking about going to Cho-Dang Tofu Soup on Hawthorne and Sepulveda (next to the Gable House) to thaw out and “break bread”. So, anyone interested is welcomed to join us.

Even if you did not participate in the Sleep Hollow walking tour, but, felt like having some spicy soup on a chilly December night with the ESL Meetup members, feel free to swing by. If Tofu Soup is not your forte, Cho-Dang also has some pretty tasty Korean BBQ dishes as well.

We’ll try to be there sometime around 8:15 p.m. or so. Some warm barley tea, a couple shots of soju, and maybe we’ll walk over to the Gable House for some bowling as well. Hope to see you there.
